The primary function of the Tax Office is the billing and collection of real estate taxes and licensing fees.
Property Tax Search & Payment
Taxes are generated on property values that are determined by the Cherokee County Tax Assessors office. The City of Canton Mill Rate is 6.80. This rate is established byMayor and City Council. Real Estate and Personal Property taxes due before or on December 20th, 2011. You may view or pay your City Taxes
by clicking here. Homestead Exemptions must be filed with the Cherokee County Tax Assessors office by April 1 of the effective year.
Senior Exemptions
The City of Canton grants an $112,000.00 homestead exemption on property owned by seniors age 62 or older who reside in the home where taxes are paid. To be eligible you must be 62 years of age on or before December 31 of the year qualifying for the exemption.
Alcohol License Application

Business License Application
Business Licenses are due for yearly renewal on or before March 31st of each year. Any applicant applying for a business license who is not a United States citizen will be electronically verified via the SAVE Program.
